The University of National and World Economics (UNWE) is the oldest, most famous and largest economic university in Bulgaria and Southeastern Europe. It prepares the country’s elite, as it has always done since its founding, to lead the Bulgarian higher education, as an integral part of the European education and research space and a preferred place for young people who see modern education to be competitive. In 2017, UNWE received the highest rating by the National Accreditation and Evaluation Agency among all Bulgarian universities for the third time within a period of six years. UNWE has 8 Schools: School of General Economics, School of Economics and Accounting, School of Management and Administration, School of Economic Infrastructure, School of International Economics and Politics, School of Applied Informatics and Statistics, School of Business and Law School. It has 33 Departments: Institute of Postgraduate Studies Department / including the Center for School Education and Foreign Languages School /, Institute of Economics and Politics, Institute for the Transfer of Intellectual Property and Technology, Institute of Entrepreneurship. Distance Education Center, Regional distance education center in Haskovo, Inter-university career development center, etc. The teaching staff of UNWE amounts to about 500 lecturers, 300 of whom are Professors and Associate Professors.
UNWE has an Intertek Certified Quality Management Training System according to the International Standard ISO 9001: 2008. UNWE holds very competitive positions. Traditionally, it has the largest number of prospective students and a record number of outstanding students compared to other universities in our country. UNWE is the largest university in Bulgaria. It has 21,534 students studying full-time and via distance learning in 43 bachelor’s and 88 postgraduate programs, as well as about 500 Bulgarian and foreign doctoral students studying in 41 doctoral programs. It collaborates with 133 universities from all over the world in joint postgraduate programs, scientific research programs, distance learning, exchange of students and teachers. UNWE has integrated a special system that provides the opportunity for students’ mobility between different fields, as well as among other Bulgarian and foreign universities.
